2014.11.06 – Next Bug Please

It was rainy and windy when I got up. Andrew was going downtown but I had stuff to do at home. Mainly paying some bills and going over some questions I would be asked the following day during a podcast I would be a guest on. I hadn’t told anyone about it because it isn’t something I have ever done and if it turns out to be a disaster nobody has to know.

I also got an email regarding the Urban Airship internship application I had submitted. They wanted to schedule an interview with me. I wrote them back and told them about my availability the previous day and was just waiting to get confirmation of a scheduled day and time. It appears they are interviewing any of us Ascenders that applied. There are only two spots available so we will see what happens.

I looked over the podcast questions and made some terse comments just as mental reminders in case I get nervous and forget what I was saying. One of the questions is “What are you most proud of?”. Huh….good question! I really had to think about this because the things I am most proud of I can take little credit for. I am ridiculously proud of my children and my husbands, proud of this life I was so fortunate fall into. I don’t really think that was the intent of the question though. I finally settled on my tenacity. I’m proud of my ability to try, try and try some more.

I decided to tackle this bug since I had just worked on duration as well as iCal. I started looking over the code to figure out where I needed to change stuff when I remembered the online Haskell class I am signed up for. Ugh! I had to be significantly behind. I logged in and there was a ton of work to do so I ended up spending most of my day watching lectures and doing homework. The class is really boring though. I prefer a class where I can test out stuff but this one is just a bunch of multiple choice quizzes. I’m thinking of un-enrolling and using my time for something more beneficial. There is probably a decent tutorial out there.

Andrew and I had the PLUG meeting to go to so we headed to PSU. The talk was about using OwnCloud to host your own cloud server instead of using Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. It was very interesting and I think we might try it.

Everyone usually meets at Lucky Lab NW afterward but I wasn’t up for the one vegan thing they have so Andrew and I opted to go to Veggie Grill. I hadn’t been in a while and was looking forward to trying some of their new menu items and of course I’d need a chocolate pudding parfait. They are so good! We ordered the new banh mi sandwich,  an order of not-chicken strips, and my pudding. “Sorry we don’t have the pudding anymore.” What?!?!?! The only reasonable explanation for this is that Veggie Grill hates me. Yup. Oh well, I guess I’ll have the carrot cake. “I’m so sorry. We are all out of that today. How about a free cookie?” Whatever. Give me the cookie….grumble….grumble….grumble. First world problems for sure.
