2014.11.07 – Podcast

I woke up early, got showered and dressed, and gathered up my computer, headset and tea so I could migrate to the attic. It would be sure to be quiet there so would be perfect for recording the podcast. Paige with the Portland chapter of Women Who Code would be interviewing me. I was a little nervous but not terribly nervous. Less nervous than I thought I would be anyway. Paige called and there was someone else there too. She told me her name but I was definitely nervous enough that I forgot what it was. This would be the very first podcast for all three of us. They asked me questions, we talked about stuff and then we were done. Easy, but I have no idea how it will turn out. I’ll probably hate it. I actually don’t even know what it’s called or where I might find it. Ha!

Spencer messaged me and invited me to go run errands with him. He’s off on Friday and we were talking about lunch anyway so I thought it would be nice to go hang out with him for a while. He picked me up and we drove out to Clackamas where he works for a flooring store. Their showroom is beautiful! We then stopped at Trader Joe’s and Costco and then went to Native Foods for lunch. I love this date cake with caramel sauce that they have. I ordered the crispy chicken, bacon, avocado club and the date cake. “We no longer carry the date cake.” Of course you don’t. Maybe this is all a sign that I am too obsessed with vegan dessert. I ordered the apple cake with a side of caramel sauce (they still carry this for some reason but I am not complaining because it’s really good). Spencer had a bunch more things to do and we were having a really great day. The fog lifted and the sky was beautiful blue. The smell of burning wood was in the air. Ahhhh I love it here!

I missed my opportunity to go to co-working though. It’s someone’s brilliant idea to gather a group of people who typically work from home and meet at a coffee shop or other venue to work together and get in some social time. I was definitely looking forward to it but there will be other days and it was really wonderful to hang out with Spencer.

Spencer dropped me off at home so I went looking for my guys. Wayne was busy doing some electrical work in the basement and Andrew was busy working. Andrew wanted to go see Citizenfour so was trying to get done. I decided to leave the two of them to their tasks and look at this bug of mine instead. I worked on the code and the test but my test kept failing and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. I messed with it until it was time to go to the movie. Wayne didn’t want to go and Natale couldn’t join us because the theater is 21 and up after 19:00. Alice was on her own because Jason wouldn’t be home from his trip until late so she, Wayne, and Natale decided to have pizza and watch a movie.

Andrew and I drove downtown and had a really difficult time finding a place to park. We finally found a spot several blocks away and walked up to the theater. There was a line and I was just hoping our movie wasn’t a popular choice. Unfortunately it was and the movie was sold out. We cut our losses and called Wayne to let him know we would be joining in on the pizza/movie. We ate over at Alice’s and watched Contagion. The pizza was excellent, the move was pretty good and Jason returned home just before it ended so all was well.

Today I learned that people in Portland are interested in movies that wouldn’t draw a crowd in Lake Havasu. It’s great but we need to buy tickets much earlier!
