2014.10.31 – Halloween 2014

I was up and ready early this morning so I could drop Kronda and Jess off at the airport. Wayne was up too and agreed to go with me. Jayde was up and super excited about Halloween. She was doing her hair and makeup and I was so impressed when she came downstairs. She took care of her entire costume. She is very into anything creepy.

We got them dropped off in a timely manner and headed home. Taylor was supposed to make vegan Mac n’ Cheese to go with burgers for dinner so Wayne and I stopped at a couple of stores to get buns and toppings.

By the time we made it home it was nearly time for Friday lunch with Spencer! We went to lunch together just about every Friday in Lake Havasu and began again when he and John moved to Portland but Friday lunch was put on hold while I was in Ascend and we were out of town last weekend. Finally a Friday lunch again! Spencer came to our house and the four of us, Andrew, Wayne, Spencer, and I went to Handsome Pizza. We hadn’t been in a while and yes, we had pizza for dinner the night before but it’s pizza. Yum! It was excellent! They really know how to do the toppings and crust just right.

Wayne wanted to go to Pier 1 Imports and get some plates and bowls to replace those that had broken over the last year. Spencer was off so he came with us. We wandered all around looking at all of their interesting stuff. Luckily the plates we needed were on sale!

When we got home Natale also arrived with his friend Charlie. She was born in Portland but is new to his school this year. The three of us sat down to watch a movie Natale has been wanting me to see called Cyberbully. Jason came over with Ladybug about halfway through the movie and stayed to watch it. It was definitely not his kind of movie but his comments kept me laughing.

We hadn’t heard from Taylor and it was about dinner time. Wayne messaged him and I guess he didn’t realize he scheduled dinner with us on Halloween. He had other plans. Oh well, we had plenty of food anyway. Alice wasn’t home yet because she was dealing with a potential ebola incident (it’s not ebola) so Wayne started getting stuff ready. Once she did show up she was busy on a bunch of phone calls with various people from various agencies. She was definitely in her element and it was a lot of fun to see how happy she was doing her job.

It was raining this year but we had a ton of trick-or-treaters. That is some parental dedication right there! Jayde went with her friend Estelle and Natale and Charlie were supposed to go with another friend of theirs but he was late so they ended up just hanging out with Charlie manning our door.

Between Alice’s phone calls and our busy door, dinner was a bit chaotic but it was good. After all of the activity subsided we decided to watch Paul. It was stupid but really enjoyable. It was getting late and we had to be up early again in the morning so Andrew and I could fly back to San Francisco and then drive to a conference in San Jose so it was bedtime for us.

Today I learned something I’m sure.
